About Ottawa BJJ

The Ottawa instructor team in addition to Professor Machado includes Alain Moussi, Aksell Nicolaides, and Scott FitzPatrick. All 3 have over 20 years of martial arts experience and have owned and operated highly successful Academies in the Ottawa region for many years.

They have spent over a decade traveling and studying Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu all over the world with of course the Gracie family but also many other high profile instructors and competitors. For many years their goal was only to assimilate high level grappling into their more traditional Jiu-Jitsu system with absolutely no intention to grade officially in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, or to offer a stand alone BJJ program.

This all changed a few years ago when they had the opportunity to meet and train with Carlos Machado in Las Vegas. Professor Machado not only has an amazing depth of knowledge and experience, but also a highly effective and unique teaching methodology. They were immediately inspired to bring the Machado system back to Canada.

Over the next few months with back and forth training trips to Orlando, Las Vegas, and Dallas they proudly earned the right to be the official Machado representatives in Ottawa and help develop not only Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in the region but most importantly Master Machado’s amazing teaching methods.

Now on the journey towards their official Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt and having launched the Canadian Machado BJJ program, Aksell, Scott, and Alain are passionately pursuing their goal of providing the highest possible quality Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instruction and helping others to discover the powerful Machado training system.
